Versace Sustainable Glamour | The Green Carpet Fashion Awards 2018
Artistic Director Donatella Versace has received the CNMI Award in recognition of sustainability at the Green Carpet Fashion Awards, hosted at Milan’s Teatro Alla Scala on September 23rd, 2018. The ceremony recognizes commitment to environmental and social sustainability. The award was presented by long-time friend Cindy Crawford, who defined her as someone who is “never afraid to dare, innovate and break barriers”.

The sustainability path – representing empowerment, evolution and excellence in fashion – is a core part of Versace’s commitment to redefine glamour. Material innovation, fur-free production, collaboration, supply chain fairness, transparency, local Italian craftsmanship, sustainable boutiques and developing a culture of inclusivity and diversity are only some of the steps Versace has taken to create a more sustainable future.

Forward-looking, sensual and sustainable, the three Atelier Versace dresses walking the Green Carpet were completely hand-embroidered with exclusively formulated Swarovski "Advanced Crystals", innovatively manufactured with a lead-free formula conforming to rigorous sustainability standards. Entirely sustainable – the fabrics were crafted in GOTS-certified satin and duchess silk (Global Standard for Organic Textiles), constructions conform to international voluntary certification standards (Oeko-tex for reinforcing materials and Global Recycle Standard for zips and fasteners).

Without compromising glamour, rather, enhancing it - the emerald green gown worn by Cindy Crawford features a completely hand-embroidered corset bodice with an inverted heart neckline – a Versace classic, draped skirt and high front leg split. Artistic Director Donatella Versace accepted the award in a gold column dress with an asymmetric, Swarovski beaded backline. The dress worn by Anna Ewers elevates the unmistakable Versace silhouette – a corset bodice and voluminous high-low skirt.

All three dresses were completely constructed and embroidered at the Versace Atelier in Milan, fully respecting the sustainability principles because:
