The meaning behind the tune has been a subject of debate but many believe Stevie Nicks wrote the tune about her breakup with guitarist Lindsey Buckingham.

Stevie apparently needed a lot of takes to get the song the way she wanted it and it was apparently completed in the wee hours of the morning.
