I finally got a chance to swing back to Cave Story after over a year thanks to ForsakenPanda, who won this as a raffle request from the Operation 1UP stream on FamilyJules7x's twitch channel. Hope ya like it, bud.

There's just something about the way Cave Story's OST is written that makes it incredibly thematic, it feels less like a game OST and more like I'm reading a book; I don't know how else to describe it.
Pixel evidently put an assload of work into every single aspect of the game, and I believe he stated that he began with the soundtrack before anything else. It would make sense that one who cares so much about a project would do their best to make everything absolutely perfect over the course of 3-4 years. I can easily say that Cave Story is one of my favorite games because of that.
