Written about a particularly aggressive groupie, “Dirty Diana” was the second hard rock song of Michael Jackson’s solo career and featured Billy Idol’s guitarist Steve Stevens.

When the song went number one in the US, Michael became the first artist to have 5 number one hits off of the same album.

Michael once stated in an interview that when playing a London show with Princess Diana in attendance, he had decided not to play the song. However after meeting her before the show she specifically requested he do the song to which he graciously complied.
