I’ll teach you to get free electricity. Of course, not on an industrial scale, but instead of a battery will fit I’ll show an experiment with a magnet, an experiment with bubbles, with fire, and many others.
Juicy fruits, new potatoes and other foods can serve as food not only for people, but also for electrical appliances. To extract electricity from them, you need a nail or screw and a piece of copper wire. Juice of vegetables and fruits contains dissolved salts and acids, which are essentially a natural electrolyte.
How to get electricity from lemon or potato? Mash the lemon in your hands, but do not damage the peel. Stick the nail and the copper wire so that the electrodes are located as close as possible to each other, but do not touch. The essence of the experience is to place the copper and zinc electrodes in an acidic environment, whether it is a lemon or a vinegar bath.
It’s important to understand: electricity isn’t produced from lemon or potatoes. It occurs due to chemical reactions involving zinc, copper and acid, and in our battery the nail is the one that serves as a consumable item.
I’ll show you four interesting experiments, but one of them is a fake. Try to guess which experiment is fake!
The first experiment is with milk, food dyes and a cotton ball. Pour the milk in the form, drip it with different dyes, place the cotton ball soaked in soap in the center. Look at the beautiful colored stains!
The second experiment - with oil, water and dye. Pour baby oil into a glass, add water, drip a little dye. Put an aspirin tablet in a glass. Watch the magic!
The third experiment is with an egg in vinegar. Pour the vinegar into a glass and place the egg there for 12 hours. The shell will dissolve and the egg will become elastic. Under the influence of vinegar, calcium, which makes up the shell, dissolves and disappears in the form of gas bubbles. You will get a funny egg that looks like jelly. If you experiment with boiled egg, it will become as elastic as a rubber ball.
The fourth experiment is with kinetic sand. Mix sand and cornstarch in a bowl, add soapy water and food coloring. You will get kinetic sand - a unique material for children's creativity.
