Born and raised in Brooklyn, Fivio Foreign is as cool as the snowflake inked under his left eye. A self-proclaimed laid back dude, even his artist name was informally chosen. When his son said he looked like “Fabio,” mistakenly pronouncing it “Fivio," daddy just rolled with it. The viral vid for “Big Drip” supports that kind of playful personality. In it, Fivi’s crew parties on the sidewalks of DUMBO, one of BK’s poshest nabes. It's all about fun: twerkin’ in front of Shake Shack, and throwin' down on Fulton Ferry Landing before heading back to the crib for some water gun battles. But listeners who have been paying attention to Fivi since his “Deli” days know there’s an underlying aggression behind his calm exterior. Along with the late Pop Smoke, he’s become part of a new Brooklyn drill scene that mixes raw elements of UK grime and OG Chicago drill sounds. “I’m ushering in a new wave,” Fivio proudly declares. “I want everyone to start knowing my face like how they know my music.” Couldn’t think of a better way to make that happen than comin' thru our DSCVR studio.
