Raffaella - BLONDE. An exclusive performance for Vevo DSCVR, the channel for the best in new music.
“Hey someone famous/hit me with your car,” requests Raffaella in “On The Lookout.” That feature on the Neil Frances track was the singer's widest exposure in 2020, giving her lots of fresh ears on which to rain her acid wit. To OG fans, this was Raf being Raf - the indie pop owner of an acerbic POV who’s ready to call bullshit. 2017’s “Sororicide,” her debut single, was a delicate piano ballad with not-so-delicate lines about the pros and cons of Xanax and lip-filler that would make Regina Spektor blush. It entered the Spotify Viral Top 50 chart soon after release. Esteemed indie label Mom + Pop have backed the New York native from the start, and it’s been a good bet, as her pop craft takes better form with each release. This year’s “GROWN UP” sports an irresistible chorus over which the Billie Holiday fan tackles buying groceries, mani/pedis, trips to Kinkos, and pet ownership; previous single “BLONDE” ponders the particulars of 21st century hotness. They’re two of six tracks that make up her ‘LIVE, RAFF, LOVE (Act I)’ EP. There's nothing shy about this one - these unflinching DSCVR performances prove she’s happy to climb onstage and tell us how it is, exactly as she sees it.
