I wrote the chorus of “Wanname” on the back of a motorcycle. It started in my mind as a snappy breakup song but evolved when I found out that my teenage sister went viral on TikTok in a bad way - people were aggressively criticizing the way she looked in the comments of her video. I was so heated on her behalf that when I showed up to my writing session with Kyle Jefferson, it’s all I could think about. Instead of letting it ruin the write, we ran towards it and wrote the verses for “Wanname.” The song is dedicated to her, and to everyone who is that beautiful color outside the lines. Wanname is about breaking up with others’ projections, limitations, and opinions. Music video filmed at Gear Seven in Nashville, TN.
