Seori was recently the recipient of perhaps the most enduring slam dunk qualifier on an artist’s resumé - a superstar cosign - when cameras caught Jungkook of BTS humming the melody of her “Running Through The Night.” All that said, there’s tons of positive momentum for Seori these days, which is especially impressive considering “Running Through The Night” was from her 2020 debut EP. In a short time span, fans and critics alike have latched on to the South Korea-born singer’s atmospheric mix of R&B and pop. There’s a soothing escapism in Seori’s music, which she sings in both Korean and English. Dramatic landscapes and depictions of astral bodies typically serve as her accompanying artwork. Even the title of her debut EP, ‘?depacse ohw,’ touches on escapism and convention-flipping. On the recent “Dive With You,” she introduces verses with poetic English phrases like “I’m ready for the dive tonight” and “You are the summer of my life” before seamlessly switching to Korean. As pop music becomes more globalized, universal storytellers like Seori become increasingly valuable. “It was such an honor to be on stage as Vevo's 2022 DSCVR Artist to Watch,” she told us. “I was so excited while I was shooting. I was so proud of myself as an artist.” And she should be. “Lovers In The Night” was certainly one of the series’ most enchanting performances.
