Valley - Like 1999. An exclusive performance for Vevo DSCVR, the channel for the best in new music.
Like a pop music romcom, Valley's story begins with a chance meeting and some instant chemistry. During their high school years, Karah and Mickey worked together as a duo, and Rob and Alex were united as their own separate group. When a local studio accidentally booked the same session time for both acts, the foursome hit it off and decided to work as one. Since that fateful day, the members of Valley have grown into a deeply collaborative unit, sharing songwriting duties and dodging the assignment of formal roles. They helmed their 2016 debut, 'This Room Is White,' but have also worked with producers Andy Seltzer (Maggie Rogers) and Josh Gudwin (Dua Lipa). Mickey described the totally informal collab that yielded “Last Birthday” as “drinking wine, eating cookies and hanging” with the song's co-writer, Ashe. That track is part of our DSCVR session, which came out great. The band really reveals its full power about halfway through "Like 1999," Karah’s background harmonies blending with Rob’s romantic requests as Alex and Mickey come in on bass and guitar. It’s the type of chemistry that was meant to be.
